1) 4 bio papers (not the synoptic bit at the end)
2) 1 physics paper
and this was all done with mark schemes available right in front of me, which i think is kinda the most effective way to revise really.
But if u think about it 5 papers the whole day is not good enough. Thank god its only saturday. I can try and lift my work load abit more tomorrow.
But I realised one thing even though I am such an avid science person. If u think about it really, science is such a shaky thing.
Fallacy upon fallacy? Its highly plausible.
The stuff we read in textbooks, we assume to be true. Just because they make sense and seem logical. However, how do we know for certain? and if some of us do go on to make theories or prove something, we do it using the knowledge we acquired. In other words, assuming what we were taught and learn are correct, then whatever we discover will be true.
For instance, plant nutrition. We learn that leaves produce food through photosynthesis, and that the food in the form of sugars such as sucrose are transported to growing parts of the plant.
This is proven because scientists have done experiments. They have tried different eliminating different conditions, to find out that C02, UV light, water are needed in photosynthesis. They have even somehow come out with theories of photosystems II and I in the leaf, of pigments releasing electrons that are pass through different enzyme carriers that are at different energy levels, that result in formation of ATP, NADPH, etc.
But what they do is sometimes come up with the best model that fits. What if i can come up with another model that accounts for C02, UV light, water, chlorophyll?
Also electrons. We can see the effects of them and hence we assume it to exist. But if i can disprove electron theory, then everything about photosynthesis will become a fallacy!
On re-reading that it seems quite muddled. But I think ppl will get my drift. Theres just so much discrepancies and unexplained.
This does not mean I believe strongly in religion either.
I'm quite certain that there is a God up there.
However, in asia, like in sg, I heard stuff like non-christians, because they have sinned, and not have jesus die on the cross for them, will go to hell. But how about people in Iraq, Afghanistan, who are born into Islam. Is it their choice to be exposed to Islam from young? Does that mean they are condemned?
The bible that all christians abide by. Originally written in Hebrew (apparently). Now translated to all sorts of languages. Now come on, anyone who knows two languages, will know that in translation, it is quite nigh impossible to achieve the same initial message with the same clarity and impact as it was intended. and since the writings in the bible are already quite cryptic and subject to interpretation, like how pastors interpret verses to provide a moral or spiritual lesson, then how is it possible to translate it? The original Hebrew teachings must have already been cryptic and to translate it and to again try and intrepret after that, surely the original message has been quite significantly altered.
But of course faith is a mysterious thing and I hope one day i will get enlightened.
I dunno whether I shld write anymore, in case people get offended...Its quite a touchy issue isnt it.
Just thought I should write something to stimulate thoughts and reactions. If its actually that interesting and more ppl are actually interested in what i think bout religion or sciences, then let me know and I might write a more indepth one.
If you read through all that...then i must say thank you! : D
Nighty night!
