wooo. its been some time. anyway, i am gonna blog abt my experience at my uncle's fish and chip bar today....
okie. so i worked there a couple of days already. jus part time work. so picture this, i'm wearing a really BIG white apron over a blue polo shirt that says: "rainham fish bar". woo. doing good honest work. i shall go into the details now:
first of all there are many kinds of fish fillets on sale (no bones! easy to eat for the brits!), there is COD, PLAICE, SKATE, ROCK and HADDOCK. all these are different kinda fishes. so each has a different texture and feel. by far, COD rules them all. when u slice into it, after its cooked, the white meat falls off in BIG WHITE CHUNKS. unlike the other fillets. and after trying some fish and chip bars, my uncle's one is the best. cos he gets fresh fish everyday, unlike many other bars, and he cuts all fillets personally...its a generous portion.
anyway i learnt how to coat the fillets in seasoning and flour. must make sure its a thin layer...shake off the excess...make shure every PART is coated. i learnt how to scoop the CHIPS into this big bucket, and chuck the whole basket of chips into the fryer, without splashing oil on myself. i learnt how to dip the seasoned fish in batter, and how to lay the fish carefully into the oil. i learnt how to boil the savaloys (sausages!!). i learnt how to fry CHICKEN in Pressure Cookers (like KFC that kind). i learnt how to use the cash tiller. i learnt how to serve the chips and fish and wrap it up nicely in the grease paper. hahaha. So yea. i leant lots of new stuff. one day i mite work part time and pick up some money... :)
okie. oh and perks on the job: the ppl are frenly, the customers are frenly, u get to nick free food all the time, and get to nick free drinks as well. wahaha.
ooo and i finally played soccer. i think i am kinda smaller built (compared to the brits), so can outpace some ppl. haha. its vv much like singapore...so yea. nothing much to say. oh jus that the club that i played with? defunt for this season. cos they hav no home ground and handed the application form late. anyway the captain said if the team is forming again nxt year, he wants me in the team. so...quite fun eh. but meanwhile, i am on the look out for another club. see how.
